Reduce the rate of Looked After Children (children in care) per 10,000 population 0-17 years old

What does this mean?

This measure is how many children in the borough (per 10,000) are looked after by the Council.  Children looked after by the Council may be; with a foster family, in a residential children’s home or with their parents under the supervision of children’s services.

Why is this important?

This measure is important because it shows how well the Council is doing in working with parents and communities to reduce the number of children that need to be looked after, and providing preventative services that intervene in advance.
