KS2, proportion of pupils achieving the Expected Standard, Reading and Writing and Maths – Reduce the gap between Children In Care and All Pupils

What does this mean?

Children in care usually have significant challenges in their lives, and so their educational results are often worse as a result. The Council however, wants to make sure that these children get the best possible education and opportunities, and so this measure keeps track of the gap in educational results between children in care and overall school attainment.

Why is this important?

This is important because the Council wants to make sure all children have the best start in life. Measuring the gap between children in care and average attainment gives the Council information on whether the education system is working for all the borough’s children. Where it isn’t, the Council is committed to supporting Children in Care to address this gap.
